Ollerton Rugby Club had a very busy weekend at the end of July. Members of the rugby club took part in a charity golf tournament at Rufford park golf club on Friday 26th July organised by Darren Wilford. This was a hugely popular event with 20 teams entering the competition in aid of MacMillan cancer support. The winners of the competition were Dylan Hume, Ross Brown, Lewis Brown and Scott Whitworth smashing the opposition with a best 2 from 4 Stapleford score of 93. The longest drive went to Tom Dilworth, nearest the pin to Mike Harrison and finally the most balls in the water to Andy Kinta. Rufford were again excellent hosts supporting us with a complimentary 4 ball for the raffle. Special mention to Cal Sheriff owner of the Mad Tatter for supplying us with a full day tattooing in his studio for the raffle. A fantastic day raising over £1000 for MacMillan, thank you to all that took part.

This would normally be enough but not for Ollerton Rugby club as we went again with a 12 hour darts marathon on Saturday 27th July to raise further money for MacMillan. The Red Lion Wellow hosted the event with most of their staff taking part. It was a great day supported by the Rugby Club and the community. The £100 prize for highest score with 10 darts went to golf winner Ross Brown. The most bullseyes in 12 hours went to Johnny Gilbert who donated his prize of £50 back to the charity. For most of the day 9 year old Charlie was winning the most bullseyes but did win £20 for most darts thrown. Special mention to Tony Hankey who donated over £300 to the cause. Darren Wilford threw the first dart and last on the 12 hour marathon that raised over £700 for MacMillan
